Register the value of the inheritance as close to the market value as possible. A wrong choice to understate the value can be costly later.
Stamp duty is currently low:
- 0,25% - for spouse and next of kin
- 0.5-5% - other heirs (depending on degree of kinship)
Why is this important?
If an inheritance is under-registered but later sold at market price, a capital gains tax of 25.5% will be due on the difference.
If you list the property for €50,000 but sell it for €100,000, you will have to pay tax on the difference (€12,750).

Find your property and choose the documents you want to receive
Order them electronically - easy and convenient
